“There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.” – 1 Corinthians 12:5 (NIV)
The apostle Paul’s conversion was noteworthy. He was a prolific writer and believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. After his conversion, he diligently sought the Holy Spirit by fasting and praying with an attitude of deep commitment to the Lord. He wanted to know more about Jesus and sought Him wholeheartedly.
Apostle Paul immediately began preaching Christ once his eyes were open (literally and figuratively) and upon receiving the Holy Spirit (Acts 9:17-18). His attitude of diligence did not change, only his purpose in life. He was a chosen vessel to bear the name of the Lord Jesus Christ before Gentiles, kings, and the people of Israel (Acts 9:15).
Paul was not only called to preach the Gospel but to suffer for Christ’s sake. Almost immediately, he was threatened with being killed due to his teachings, but his fellow brethren saved his life by sneaking him out of the city, where he went to Jerusalem and continued to proclaim the name of the Lord.
He preached the message of the kingdom of God and established churches in Rome, Asia Minor, and other parts of Europe. He trained other disciples in the faith who became pastors, notably Timothy, whom he considered to be his son, Titus, who was trustworthy; and Pricilla and Aquila, among others, who were established in the faith.
Apostle Paul’s faithfulness was beyond reproach: three times, he was shipwrecked, beaten on numerous occasions, stoned, and thrown in jail. Yet, he confessed that we are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37). He further proclaimed, “I have fought the good fight…” (2 Timothy 4:7-8).
Friends, this man of God served with distinction, and the Holy Spirit made the difference.
